Don’t Give Dad the Day Off This Father’s Day!
Every Father’s Day, I hear it a lot: “Dad just wants a day off.”But if I’m being honest, that’s not really what a lot of guys want.
Our job as men is to work hard. To provide, protect, and love. When done well, that formula can be tiring, so we lean towards just letting Dad sit around for a day.
Here’s what I propose: this Father’s Day, don’t just give Dad a break… give him the gift of time spent with the people who made him a father.
For me, the perfect Father’s Day starts with church on a quiet morning, followed by teaching my kids something new on the grill or smoker.
Then there’s a round of golf with the family, enjoying the meal we all helped create — slow smoked pulled pork topped with pepper jack cheese and my famous sriracha lime coleslaw — and winding down with a few games of dominos on the patio.
And to cap it all off, some well-earned private time with my wife (if you know what I mean 😉).
I’m lucky — my kids are starting to enjoy some of the same things I love, like cooking, golf, and just hanging out.
There’s something special about teaching your kids, sharing stories, and making memories one smoke ring or lost golf ball at a time.
Early in my career, long before I came to Parcel, I owned and operated restaurants.
Great food has been a lifelong passion, and the pulled pork and slaw recipes we’ll feature in the upcoming video were born in those kitchens.
I can’t wait to share them with you.
What Sides Should We Make?
Help me decide! Vote in our poll or share your favorite sides and traditions in the comments below:
• Bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers
• Grilled Mexican street corn
• Crumby peach cobbler
• Smoky chipotle black bean salad
Keep an eye out for the video.
I’m excited to share it and even more excited to hear how you make your own Father’s Day moments.
Thanks for letting me share a slice of my life.
Here’s to more time together, more stories shared, and more meals made with love.
